The Shelter Progetto is deeply grateful for your steadfast support over the years. Since 2016, I, Kim Menezes, who was a Trustee of The Shelter Progetto had the privilege of running the Children’s Home, a journey made possible through the generosity, encouragement, love, and kindness. Many of you have enriched the children’s lives - helping with their studies, offering counseling, playing games, teaching dance and music, or taking them out for movies, lunches, and even a memorable holiday to Shimla. Your presence has created treasured memories that they will carry with them forever.

In December 2024, we made the bittersweet decision to close the home as most of the children have now reached adulthood. Many have graduated, while others have acquired valuable skills to embark on their independent journeys. Five younger children under the age of 18 were transferred to Girls’ Homes in Gurugram (Haryana, India): Jeeya, Sonam, and Pooja to Udayan Care Girls Home; Tanuja and Chaya to Aarushi Girls Home, run by Salaam Baalak Trust

Here’s an update on the accomplishments of some of our children:

Bhumika, Monam, Shivani, and Sabina: They completed their 12th standard, are pursuing graduation through IGNOU, and are training to become ABA therapists with Continua Kids.

Monu: After completing a BSc in Data Analytics from Venky’s and working as a Data Analyst for a year, he is now preparing for GATE.

Harkesh: Graduated with a BCA from Manav Rachna University and is now employed as an Implementation Specialist at Taboola.

Praveen: Now a fitness trainer.

Ajay: Studying BCA at G.D. Goenka University.

Pooja and Susheela: Skilled professionals working in cafés - Pooja at DiGhent and Susheela at Club 5.

Baby: Completed her skilling program and is now working at Welco Export Pvt. Ltd.

Kajal: Recently started training as an ABA therapist with Continua Kids.

Bittu: Employed as an HR Specialist at Expatria Pvt. Ltd.

Additionally, six of our children have been adopted into loving families in Kerala, Bangalore, Canada, and Italy.

Your support has truly transformed lives, and we are immensely grateful for the role you’ve played in shaping their futures.
